We love to hear from musicians who would like us to listen to their music.
So let’s connect!
Please understand that we only blog once a week so we’re very choosy about what we include. And we only write positive reviews – there is more than enough negativity in the world so we don’t feel the need to add to it – which means that we blog what we love and what we believe others will enjoy hearing too. That could be your music!
Our reviews end up in all sorts of places, so if we like your music, and we have space to include it, we’ll publish it in other blogs too.
Which means that we very rarely blog about singles, because the places where our reviews get published prefer album or EP reviews. Unless you are offering a single or a video as a premiere (which means that it hasn’t been anywhere before, including YouTube, Soundcloud or your own website). If you want us to be the first to write about a new piece of music, let us know.
If you’d like us to consider reviewing your songs, we need a few things:
A link to the music you want us to review and information about it – release date, label (if you have one), who is playing and performing, who wrote it, what inspired it. Oh, and if diction isn’t your singer’s thing, we’d love to get a copy of the lyrics too.
The song that you would like us to offer as a free download to Angry Baby readers, as an MP3 file. We guess you know that Angry Baby offers readers the opportunity to download free music? We hope that’s OK with you and that, if they hear you, they’ll add you to their music collection and start to follow you, turn up at your gigs and support your next release. We don’t need you to give away your most recent track. But it does need to be an original!
A photo that you’d like me to feature, including the cover art from the release you want us to review
Interesting facts about you and your music. For example, a bit of history about you and what your influences are. We’re also interested to know what inspires your lyrics, your musical arrangements and your music videos. And if you have any gigs or more releases coming up, we can mention them too – make sure you send a link to any webpages you’d like us to share.
Links to your website and social media.
And finally, to pay it forward, please also answer the question ‘what advice would you give to someone who is just starting out with their music?’ Just a sentence or two, or even a couple of paragraphs will do just fine.
Angry Baby is built on a solid foundation of music appreciation, decades of business experience, and passion to see talented artists fairly rewarded for their creativity.
How we can help each other
Angry Baby is more than just a blog. Once we’ve featured your work we’ll continue to follow you and do what we can to share and promote what you do. Sometimes we can help in other ways too, like putting artists in touch with venues and gig bookers we know who might book you to play.
We hope that you like the idea of what we do, but it’s not all one way. We’d expect you tp help a bit too. The Angry Baby ‘family’ includes musicians who have great networks, but whether a fanbase is huge or just friends and family, it helps everyone if we share each other’s music.
So we’d like you to take a look at the Angry Baby blog each week and, if you like the artist that we’re featuring, leave a comment about it and share the review with your fans and followers. If you don’t like the music, don’t share it (integrity is everything!) You can see what’s in this for you, because the more people we can reach, the more people we’ll have engaged with Angry Baby for next time you have something you want to share here.
You could show willing by sharing this week’s blog right now. Just tag @AngryBabyMusic on Twitter and Facebook so we see what you have done. And while you’re there, leave a nice supportive comment on the blog so the artist knows you like their work, Your music is much more likely to go to the top of our ‘listen to’ pile if we know that you’ve supported an artist we’ve featured.
Just in case you are wondering if we’ve joined the ‘feeding frenzy’ that seems to surround independent musicians – we haven’t! There is no question of there being any charge for our blog. We’re not asking for money, just the chance to share your music and the hope that you will want to reciprocate and share the music from other artists we feature.
Thanks again for reaching out to Angry Baby and we look forward to hearing your music.
